Honoring Ecology with Jared Tarr | The Herbalist Hour Ep. 10

Jared Tarr grew up on the southern Oregon Coast where he fell in love with the woods, rivers, beaches and windswept headlands of the northeastern Pacific. He studied at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington where he had the opportunity to work with organizations like The Nature Conservancy and People for Puget Sound, involving himself in grassroots organizing, policy work, as well as ecological research and restoration.

Upon returning to Oregon and settling in Eugene, he worked as the Shop and Program Manager for the Center for Appropriate Transportation, sharing his love for bicycles, DIY repair and advocating for transportation equity in the emerald city. He still loves to ride his bike and spends his time fly fishing, exploring new rivers by boat and foot, and escaping to the mountains and desert with his partner and pup.

Sobande Greer | The Herbalist Hour Ep. 9

Today's episode of The Herbalist Hour is with Angelique "Sobande" Greer.

I've had a lot of communication with Sobande over the years, but this is the first time I've really had a chance to have a long form discussion with her.

We chatted about her herbal origins, why she created The Sacred Waters Retreat, and how incredible her great-grandmother was.

I really loved this conversation and I know you will too!

Please let us know in the comments if you had any takeaways.

Maria Noël Groves | The Herbalist Hour Ep. 7

I had the pleasure of chatting with herbalist and author Maria Noël Groves in this episode of The Herbalist Hour.

We talked about how she got into herbalism and one of the early plants she had a relationship with, wintergreen. The conversation turned into a nice discussion about one of her early mentors, Michael Moore.

We also talked about the many different ways you can be an herbalist and how to go about getting an herbal education.

I've known Maria for several years now, but it was really nice to have the opportunity to hang out with her for an hour and learn more about her as a person, and all of the fabulous projects she's got goin' on.

I really hope you enjoy the conversation! If you do, please give the video a big ol' thumbs up 👍

Let us know in the comments what your main takeaways were.

Thanks for watching ✌️

~Mason

Nutritionally Speaking with Yaakov Levine | The Herbalist Hour Ep. 4

For Episode 4 of The Herbalist Hour, Mason and Amanda went to visit their friend Yaakov Levine at the Natural Grocers in Eugene, OR.

Mason has known Yaakov for many years now. They'd frequently see each other at various herb conferences and natural foods events.

Yaakov is a nutrition health coach and expert, and was gracious enough to sit down with Mason to answer YOUR questions.

We polled the HerbRally audience to see if you had any nutrition questions and you all came through! There were about 125 questions that came in.

Of course, Yaakov couldn't answer every single one in this interview, but he did manage to get to about a dozen of 'em. Perhaps we'll have a round two with him.

We hope you enjoy this interview as much as we enjoyed making it!

FYI: The title of this episode is an homage to a weekly column Yaakov used to write for the newspaper called "Nutritionally Speaking".
